- Podiatrists should keep accurate and comprehensive records of their
consultations with you.
- Podiatrists should provide patients with advice of all the treatment
options available to their knowledge.
- Podiatrists should try to follow appointment times to reduce waiting for
patients, or let patients know if they are running behind schedule.
Patients can expect Podiatrists to provide a comfortable reception lounge.
- Podiatrists should provide clear information about the billing
procedures of the practice.
- APodA members adhere to a code of ethics
which includes an
extensive section covering responsibilities to patients.
Your role in the partnership
- Ask questions about your treatment, procedures and
medications.
- Tell your podiatrist about your past health problems.
- Follow prescribed treatment.
- Contact your podiatrist immediately if you suffer any problems
following your treatment.
- Try to keep your appointments and notify your podiatrist if you are
unable to attend.
- If you think you have a complex problem or have a number of issues
to talk about – ask for a longer appointment when booking.
- Listen to the podiatrist’s advice.
- Your podiatrist will discuss the need for tests or referrals if they
will help you.
